The Ride

Traditionally held annually the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the 40th El Tour de Tucson takes place on November 18, 2023. El Tour is a ride that features over 7,500 cyclists of all ages and abilities from the United States and worldwide. Participants range from novice to professional as they ride either the Century (102 Mile), Metric Century 100 KM (62 Mile) or Metric Half Century 50 KM (32 Mile). There is also a Family Fun Ride consisting of 3-mile and 1-mile rides and for the 40th Anniversary, a return of the 5K Run/Walk.

The Routes

Perimeter Bicycling and El tour de Tucson are thrilled to start 2023 with unveiling of exciting new ride routes.  All Rides/Routes start and finish at the Tucson Convention Center and the surrounding area.

  A Certified 5K Run/Walk 
• The FUN Rides! (8:00 am start)
  3 Mile / 1 Mile
• The Metric Century (9:00 am start)
  62 Mile/100 Kilometer
• The Half Metric Century (10:00 am start)
  32 Mile/50 Kilometer

The Participants

El Tour riders share a desire to ride, meet great people, raise contributions for charities and have fun. Participants enjoy the ride and its festivities out of a passion for cycling, as a benchmark for a wellness program, as a symbol of surviving a major illness or other life challenge or to honor another person.

The Non-Profit Partners

First and foremost, El Tour is charity event. In its 40 years, more than $110 million has been raised through El Tour by over 100 different local and national nonprofit organizations. Learn about the various nonprofits and sign up to ride on their teams here.

The Start/Finish

All rides begin and end at the newly renovated Tucson Convention Center in Downtown Tucson, the location for the day-of-the-event party as well as the two-day packet pickup (Thursday, Friday).  Most of the Expo & Fiesta activities will be held outdoors on the newly renovated Tucson Convention Center as well as an outdoor beer garden, main stage and outdoor vending booths. 

Cyclists collect a commemorative finisher’s medallion based on distance and/or finish time. Conclude your ride at the post-ride party with family and friends at the party complete with music, the Dragoon Brewing Co. Beer Garden, numerous food vendors, El Tour merchandise zone, kid’s activities and the Award Ceremony.

More than 12,000 fans, spectators and cycling enthusiasts gather to celebrate the weekend that is El Tour de Tucson.

Perfect for Riders, Friends, Family, and Clients! Access to the HSL Properties Finish Line Club provides exclusive access into the Finish Line Club located near the finish line on the Westside of the Tucson Convention Center.  

Bike Patrol

Bike Patrol helps cyclists on the route with minor mechanical aid, first aid and moral support.  Nearly 300 certified Bike Patrol cyclists bring enthusiasm for cycling and a deep pool of experience to ensure the success of thousands of riders in Perimeter’s events every year.  They ride all or part of an event’s route stopping to assist other cyclists and report their activities to headquarters during the event. 

Each Patroller must be certified to ride an event – a short class ensuring that you know what to expect and what is expected of you during an event.  Certifications must be renewed every two (2) years.
