Get ready for a summer of bike adventures!
Capital Youth Cycling Adventure Bike Club kicks off June 14, 2022 at Eastgate Park and June 16, 2022 at Burchfield Park! That's right, we will be running TWO separate programs 2022! Tuesday nights will be at Eastgate Park in Meridian Township and we will have a new program at Burchfield Park in Holt, MI on Thursday nights! We are excited to utilize the newly installed Dirt School Skills Park at Burchfield for our program.
Adventure Bike Club will meet for 9 weeks- Tuesdays or Thursdays from 6-8pm. CYC aims to cultivate an active and inclusive community that inspires youth to grow in resilience, self-confidence, and passion through outdoor adventure on bikes. Kids ages 5-17 who are able to ride a pedal bike without training wheels will be split into small groups of thier peers. Groups will be led by at least 2 leaders. Leaders have received program-specific training developed by the 906 Adventure Team as well as comprehensive background checks.
Important items to note:
This is a drop-off program. Parking is limited at Eastgate Park. The park will also be open to public use, so please help us to limit parking congestion.
Burchfield Park is an Ingham County Park and has a vehicle entrance fee. This fee is $3 for Ingham County residents and $5 for non-residents. Annual passes are available for $32 for Ingham County residents and $42 for non-residents. These passes can be purchased at all gatehouses at the parks. The same pass works for Burchfield Park, Hawk Island, Lake Lansing Park-North, and Lake Lansing Park-South. For more information, see https://pk.ingham.org/parks/vehicle_fees.php .
Only trained leaders with background checks will be allowed to ride with ABC kids. Parents do not ride with ABC kids. This is your child's club. Kids behave differently around parents, and growth happens outside of comfort zones.
Our program is non-competitive and community driven. We embrace challenges. We value respect, effort, and resilience. We don't race. We teach basic riding skills and etiquette.
We look forward to a fun summer of bikes and friends!
