Hidden Hikes of Maine

Hidden Hikes of Maine presented by Back 40 Events is a call to get outside and explore some of the lesser known, lesser traveled hikes the state of Maine has to offer. Maine has an abundance of beautiful and challenging hikes for folks to experience. Our partners at the Ladies Adventure Club, L.L. Bean, and Baxter Brewing Co. have selected some of their favorites, and we encourage you to take on any or all of them!

Registering for Hidden Hikes will score you the official event medal and a Hidden Hikes patch for your pack signifying your commitment to getting outside and exploring this great state of ours.

Our prize sponsor L.L. Bean is providing a little more incentive to Be An Outsider this year! When you complete and log 5 of our hikes, they will reward you with an L.L. Bean water bottle. Be one of the first 250 to complete 10 hikes and you will receive an L.L. Bean Airlight Hoodie! On June 12 you can begin tracking your hikes. Simply return to the Results page here on runsignup.com, choose the hike or hikes you have completed, enter your time or distance hiked, and upload a photo of your hike to be eligible for prizes.

When you log a hike, we ask that you share a photo with us to verify your achievement. Simply submit your hike and you will then be prompted to upload any photos you've taken on that hike. Follow the Photos link above to view all of the photos our participants have submitted.

You can share your experience on your social media platform of choice using #hiddenhikesofmaine or join our Facebook group to share photos, communicate with other participants, and plan outings. You can find us at www.facebook.com/groups/hiddenhikes/

We encourage you to follow the Baxter Outdoors hiking blog for information and inspiration as you complete your summer of Hidden Hikes. There you will find hike information, directions, photos, and even the best Baxter beer pairings for some of the hikes in our list. 

Hidden Hikes of Maine will conclude on Saturday, October 16th. On Sunday, October 17th all participants are invited to join us for an afterparty at the Pub at Baxter Brewing in Lewiston, Maine. All Hidden Hikes participants who attend will receive a free pint of Baxter beer! We will also be handing out the swag you earned by participating in the Hidden Hikes of Maine. You do not need to be in attendance to receive your giveaways, but why not join us to celebrate our achievements?!

Registration for Hidden Hikes is $30 per participant, or just $100 for your family of 4 or 5. 

A portion of each registration will go towards supporting the Ladies Adventure Club of Maine. The Ladies Adventure Club is a welcoming community of women who like to explore new places and spaces, challenge ourselves, be bold, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.
