To Our NAUW Sisters and Supporters,
NAUW is a service organization founded in 1910, and the North Jersey branch was organized in 1929. Our focus is steeped in civic engagement, health and wellness, education, international and national affairs, and scholarship. It is our desire to be a beacon of hope and strength in the community. Under the leadership of our current branch president, Carla Hinds, we have selected a theme for our work - NAUW North Jersey: Leading with Purpose, Passion and Promise.
Since its inception, the fundraising activities of our NAUW North Jersey branch have provided college scholarships to over 130 young people. These scholarships are transformative as they are provided yearly to our awardees to support them through 4 years of college - as long as they meet our academic requirements. As education and scholarship are two of our founding principles, we believe it is required for us to pour into our young people in this way. We support our scholarship efforts through fundraising.
The National Association of University Women - North Jersey Branch (NAUW NJB) invite you to join us in our 2023 Dollars for Scholars Breakthrough Virtual 5K taking place from February 1, 2023 through March 1, 2023 in support of our scholarship initiative. Instead of us gathering in one location for this event, this will be a virtual 5K. Participants will be able to run / walk / bike / swim / row at any time during the event window.
Your event registration not only provides a donation to our scholarship fund, but it will also include a race packet for you that contains a T-Shirt and Race Bib! All race packets will be mailed to each registrant at the end of February. We encourage everyone to take photos throughout your 5K and send them to our mailbox - firstname.lastname@example.org. If you post your pictures to social media, please include the hashtag #NAUWNJB2023Scholars or #NAUWNJB5K. For those interested in donating, but not registering for the event, please click the Donate tab at the top of the webpage.
Our goal is to have 200 people registered for this event, but we cannot do that without your participation!
As a thank you to all participants, there will be a randomized raffle taking place. Everyone who registers or donates will be entered into a raffle to win one of our two gifts - a themed basket or a gift card. This is our way of thanking you for your participation.
