NOMBS Bedford XC!

Bedford XC MTB Race joins NOMBS!

The Cleveland Metroparks Bedford XC MTB race has been going on for years and is a beloved event by the area MTB community. We are proud to have it as one of the NOMBS races in 2023!

Course & General Info

Most categories will race the 10 mile race loop, so you can expect a fast, closed course with fun descents and hard climbs utilizing Bedford Singletrack, gravel paths, paved park roads, and sections of the all-purpose trail you know and love. Cat3 Novice U19 - U13 will be doing one shorten lap of about 5 miles. Awards will be three deep and will be a combination of swag and prizes. All registered racers will receive a detailed email a week or so before the race with complete race details. 

Jr Novice Races

You may have noticed that we are doing Cat3 Jr Novice races early in the day and be asking, "Hey, what's up with that?" We want to give Jr's, and particularly Novice Jr's the best race day experience we can. Separating the Jr. novice races to an earlier start allows us to do 3 things:

• Fewer racers on course for the race.
• For families where the one or both parents also race it gives the parents a chance to spectate and cheer their kids.
• Novice Jr's get their own start, with more people cheering and spectating. Bring the cowbells!

Day Of Registration:

While we strongly encourage you to preregister (and greatly appreciate you doing so as it helps the event go more smoothly), there will be "day of" registration. It will be an extra $10, and will close 30 minutes before the start of your event.

Race day Schedule:

• 8am registration/packet pickup opens
• 8:30am Cat 3 Jr Novice U19-U13 & Kids race day of registration closes
• 9am Cat3 Jr Novice U19-U13 & Kids race start
• 9:30am day of registration closes
• 10am  all other races start

USA Cycling Licenses and championship eligability:

NOMBS is proud to be bringing a USAC sanctioned series to Ohio and be hosting the official USA Cycling Ohio MTB Championship. Partnering with USA Cycling helps us offer you a great series with structure, good insurance, and allows an opportunity for riders with goals outside Ohio to earn USAC points. 

If you do not have a USAC license you can select a one day license during checkout. For 2023, NOMBS is covering the cost of your one day license, so it is FREE! This is a great option for riders who want to come out to a few races and have a great time. However to be eligable for series awards or state champion you must purchase an annual license from USA Cycling. You can go here to get your annual, and enter promo code NOMBS to get a discount on your USAC annual license!

USAC Championship eligibly rules:

(a) To be eligible for a State Championship jersey or medal, a rider must hold a current USA Cycling annual license and reside in the state as shown on the rider’s license. (b) State Championships are open to US Citizens and permanent residents (green card) with a USA Cycling annual license. (c) Members of UCI road teams are not eligible for road championships unless there is a separate class for them.  (d) At the option of the Administrators, State Championships may include riders who are ineligible for the championship but championship medals will be awarded only to riders who are eligible.
