The Family Resource Center is hosting Puppy Love, a 5K fun run/walk Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 at the new Elko City Dog Park on 5th Street in Elko, Nevada. In addition to raising funds for valuable FRC programming, it promotes physical exercise and socializing with runners, walkers, and dog lovers in a fun community event―all for a good cause! The event also marks the Grand Opening for the city's new dog park!
The event is open to all participants, with or without a dog. The registration fee is $35 the day of the race or $30 for pre-registration. Participants registered prior to Sept. 13th are guaranteed an event shirt in their preferred size, after that sizes are available first come first serve. Children under age 16 may run or walk in the race at no charge, with a registered adult; if children under age 16 want an event shirt, they must register.
Same day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the race. Walkers will start at 8:45 a.m. and runners will begin at 9:00 a.m. Following the 5K race, there will be a finish-line celebration with music, a raffle with a grand prize of tickets for four to Lagoon, and free recovery refreshments. Raffle tickets will be $5 each, or 5 tickets for $20. All registered participants will receive one free raffle ticket. Winners not required to be present at the raffle, we will contact you if you win a prize. Credit cards, cash, checks, or Venmo accepted on the day of the event for registrations or raffle tickets.
There will also be a variety of vendors with pet- and/or sports-related merchandise and services along with local food vendors. Awards will be given for Men's, Women's, and Kids' for 1st-3rd place, and the first dog across the finish line will win Top Dog. For safety reasons all dogs must be current on vaccinations, remain on a 6-ft. leash, and be friendly participants.
