The season is young!

The R.A.D. Adventure Series is designed to get you out early in the season on some of the best gravel rides in Ohio. Not a race, but an opportunity to challenge yourself among friends and gravel enthusiasts.

What is an adventure ride?

Adventure rides are gravel rides that include more technical surfaces and steep terrain than your average road ride. Most of the routes within the R.A.D. Adventure Ride Series include surfaces ranging from smooth and washboard gravel, loose, very steep, rocky, and even sandy terrain over a mix of paved, gravel, and jeep roads.

Self-supported?

R.A.D. Adventure Rides are self-supported with little-to-no resupply options. Each rider is responsible for their own food, water, mechanicals, clothing, navigation, and their safe completion of the ride no matter how long it may take. However, gravel riders are good people, so if you see a friend in need of a snack, or some assistance with a flat change, we hope you'll do the right thing knowing we've all been there.

Ideal Gear

The ideal bicycles for the R.A.D. Adventure Rides are bicycles equipped with a minimum tire size of 35mm - 2.3" tires with a wide range of gears. Each rider should have a GPS device and/or have the route downloaded onto their phone. Gloves. The ability to carry plenty of water and food for 5-7 hours is also important. Layers, gloves, helmet, lights, tool kit, pump, etc.

What do we get?

Proceeds from each registration will go to support the Trailgators Booster Association. Trailgators is a fantastic group that builds confidence in youth mountain biking in Central Ohio. We will be offering a commemorative pin for each ride of the series to remind you how much fun you had. And of course, the comradery of riding with a bunch of like minded friends all in one spot. Many of us will be grabbing a bite and a beer (or a coffee) after and we hope you'll join us!
