The third annual Race to Marrs 0.5K fun returns in full force this year. Those who would like to support Psi Iota Xi's music, art, literature and speech and hearing projects and the Taylor Marrs Art Scholarship fund are invited to join in the fun from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 6 at Uncorked in Rochester. There's no need to train. The race is all of 0.5k – roughly 500 yards.
Registration is now open at runsignup.com. Cost is $25, which includes a short-sleeve T-shirt if registered before October 15th. Participants ages 21 and older also receive two tickets good for a cold beer after all that exertion.
There will be 50/50 tickets and raffle baskets available, with the drawing at the close of the event and winners do not need to be present.
Psi Iota Xi each year provides a book to every Fulton County kindergartener every month of the school year, a free speech and hearing clinic for children over summer break and cultural events, including free September 16th performances of The Roz Puppets at 1 p.m. at the Fulton County Public Library and 6:30 p.m. at the Rochester High School auditorium. The sorority sponsors the downtown art banner project, donates to such projects as the Times Theater renovation and gives college and graduate level scholarships.
