This race is for you, whether your goal is to be the fastest, push your personal limits, or just have fun and enjoy the beautiful views of nature on a supported ride.

Our registration goal is to provide a large women’s field and support equality in racing, we are reserving half of the 600 race spots for women registrants.

What is your level of GRIT?

You’ve got GRIT no matter what, but in order to be the grittiest, you must go the full distance.

GRIT - Tackle the first two climbs and 25 miles.

GRITTIER - Make it over four climbs and 49 miles.

GRITTIEST - Complete all 65 miles and 7,500 feet of climbing to stake your claim as the GRITTIEST rider of the day.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE

7:30 am Saturday, REGISTRATION at Tussey Mountain. 

If registration is not sold out on the day of registration, is $105

8:30 am REGISTRATION CLOSES

8:45 am Rider safety meeting.

9:00 am Race start. Rolling neutral start. Line up by Grittiest, Grittier, and GRIT. 

11:00 am Gritty first finisher expected. 

Noon  Grittier's first finisher is expected.

1:00 pm Grittiest first finisher expected.

3:00 pm Podium award ceremony and cash payouts.

3:00 pm THICKHEAD QOM & KOM Sponsored by Rothrock Coffee upload will be 

4:00 pm Strava awarded at 4 pm. You must upload your Strava information by 2 pm. 

6:00 PM The last rider is expected to finish.

6:30 pm The finish line closes after the last rider.

GRIT 25 miles 2,463 ft RED course arrows will see support one at mile 21. *Cut off time 1:00 pm 

GRITTIER 49 miles 4,855 ft BLACK course arrows will see support one at mile 21 and support two at mile 31.

GRITTIEST 65 miles 6,962 ft BLUE course arrows will see support one at mile 21 and support two at mile 50. 

The Bicycle Shop support van will be located at the bottom of Detweiler descent, 32.2 miles. *Cut-off time is 3:00 pm; racers reaching this spot will be rerouted back to the start. 

*Course split at support station 1 at  mile 21.4

(Black 49 miles Grittier and Blue 65 miles Grittiest ALL turn right) 

*Course Split at Mile 28.8 Detweiler and Thickhead.

SEASONS OF ROTHROCK RACE SERIES INFORMATION:

Does the idea of exploring the natural sylvan beauty of Pennsylvania on two wheels excite you? If so, we invite you to discover magnificent Rothrock State Forest on gravel roads and singletrack trails while building lasting friendships in a passionate and supportive community along the way. Come see what Happy Valley and the grassroots cycling community here have to offer. 

Join us for one, or all four races, in the Seasons of Rothrock Race Series. Spend an afternoon pushing your limit on challenging, gravel roads and fun singletrack. By participating, you’ll be supporting a community that emphasizes the fun and social aspects of racing while creating local events that belong on the national stage. 

Seasons of Rothrock Race Series is a grouping of four races that capture the grandeur of Rothrock State Forest in all four seasons through the disciplines of gravel and mountain bike racing. Sessions I and II are spring and early summer races that allow riders to experience Alan Seeger and Bear Meadows Natural Areas, Tussey Mountain, and Whipple Dam on challenging gravel roads and double-track trails. While Sessions III and IV cross Greenwood Furnace State Park and Tussey Mountain, including the famed Three Bridges, on rooty, rocky, and demanding single-track courses in September and December.

Session IV, Tussey Mountain Mountain Bike Race

The series will culminate in December when we will crown the royal court in categories such as Gentlemen Open, Clydesdale, Singlespeed, Gentlemen 40+, Gentlemen +50, and Youth Racers under 18. The women's categories will be equally represented on the podium. To become eligible to earn the title of Series King and Queen you must compete in all four races at the longest distance offered in each race. 

Our focus is on hosting high-quality events that are safe, fun, competitive, and accessible to as many riders as possible. Racer experience is our primary goal. Whether you are a professional or amateur cyclist you are welcome! There are no USAC or other licenses required to race. Regardless of your age, skill level, or how you identify, we are dedicated to providing you with an exceptional racing experience that will have you returning year after year with your family and friends!

$500 to the first-place Ladies and Gentlemen ProEx winner. 

Podium and cash awarded to top 3 Ladies and Gentlemen ProEx

Strava QOM & KOM segments will receive awards and bragging rights.

Well-stocked support station(s) including Hammer Nutrition products

Post-race event snacks and beverages.

Race swag is guaranteed to riders who register 30 days prior to the event. Register early!!

The race series is fully non-profit and raises money for the local cycling community. Since 2021 we have donated $44K to those initiatives by allocating 100% of the net proceeds from GRIT entry fees to community programs. In the past, the following organizations have benefitted from your participation. Nittany Mountain Bike Association, Harvest Fields Community Trails, National Interscholastic Cycling Association, Highpoint Skate Park, Girls Rock, YMCA ,Friends of Rothrock, PennysValley Pedals and Pints
