UNC SNDA Oral Cancer 5K Run/Walk

Join the UNC Student National Dental Association in the annual Oral Cancer 5K Run/Walk on Saturday April 1st, 2023 at 7:30AM!

In honor of UNC Adam’s School of Dentistry’s very own oral cancer survivor, Dr. Scott Eidson, all proceeds will be donated to the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center to provide accessible and affordable treatment to head and neck cancer patients throughout North Carolina.

100% of the proceeds go towards helping patients pay all the bills of miscellaneous treatment expenses - transportation to and from the hospital, additional housing expenses required for them to stay close to the hospital during their treatment, mortgage/rent and utility bills for patients who have lost income because of their cancer diagnosis, and childcare while the parent is receiving treatment.

When: Saturday April 1st, 2023 at 7:30AM EST (rain or shine)

Where: Old Well, 180 E Cameron Ave, Chapel Hill, NC 27514

Parking: Any lot nearby is open and free on Saturdays (ex. Swain Lot, Hanes Lot). You can also park anywhere on Franklin St and walk over!

Race Route: The running route will be the Franklin 5K, a USATF-certified course. Electronic chip timing will be used. Strollers and wagons welcome.

Activities: While we will not be conducting our free mouth cancer exams this year due to COVID-19, we will have self-screening education and fun games/activities for the whole family!

Payment & Registration:
$25.00 + $3.25 processing fees* (Pre-registration by Thursday, March 30th)
$30.00 + $3.25 processing fees* (Day-of registration on Saturday, April 1st)

Day-of registration will be available 7:00-7:30AM on race-day at the check-in table.

T-Shirt: Participants who pre-register by Wednesday, March 15th will be guaranteed a free T-shirt. Participants who sign up between March 15 and March 30 will receive a T-shirt as available.

Packets (race bib with pins) and T-shirts will be distributed the morning of the race.

Awards: Prizes will be given to the overall first, second, and third place runners, as well as the top male and female runners in each age group: under 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+.

*The website's processing fee is reduced if you register more people per transaction. For example, if you register your friend and yourself in one transaction, the fee is reduced from $3.25 to $1.62.
