Overland Preview Weekend - July 16 &17, 2022

The Vermont Overland preview weekend was created to provide women, non-binary, and trans riders with the opportunity to make friends in the cycling community, help participants build confidence and skills to be ready for race weekend, and to explore new and unique roads in beautiful West Windsor, Vermont.

All events are FREE to those already registered for The Overland and are hosted at Ascutney Outdoors.

Instructional Class IV Skills Clinic: Saturday, July 16th, 9:00 - 12:00

A morning instructional clinic featuring all the basics of class IV riding in an intimate setting. Each rider will get ample practice with technical “off-road” skills such as navigating rocks and roots, cornering and braking in variable conditions and riding challenging terrain in a group.

Included: Coffee and doughnuts from Brownsville Butcher and Pantry, light mechanical support as needed.

Limited to 30 participants.

Sunset Adventure Ride: Saturday, July 16th, 4:00 - 8:00

Join us for a mystery ride to one of West Windsor's most breathtaking sunset spots. We’ll begin with tips and tricks on where and how to get started bikepacking, show and tell with different bag set-ups, and Q&A on how to get into this popular niche in the cycling world. Then we’ll set off on a 20 mile route with a stopover for snacks and drinks from our friends at Brownsville Butcher and Pantry.

Included: Light snacks and beverages, limited bike lights to demo.

Limited to 30 participants.

Full Course Pre Ride: Sunday, July 17

A full-course pre-ride in several self-paced groups with ride leaders.*  Mechanical support and an on-course feed zone. Includes full access to RidewithGPS files for self-navigation.

8:30-9 Arrival, coffee/doughnuts, connection with other riders, light mechanical support

9-2 Full Course Pre-ride with ride leaders

2-4 Apres lunch with FREE beer from Zero Gravity, lunch available for purchase.

Limited to 75 participants.

*While we will have several ride leaders, this is not a no-drop ride. All riders should have the route downloaded to a device and be prepared to self-navigate.

By participating, you are joining a community that values:

  • Our common attitudes toward leaving a place better than we find it, fostering camaraderie, positively stoked energy, and the vital role that health and the beautiful outdoors play in all our lives no doubt align.

  • Our common interests in making events like this more accessible to women, supporting the next generation of youth cyclists, finding the next gnarly class-4 road, and growing the sport in a sustainable way as a whole remain strong.

  • And our common goals, to make events like this sustainable for the long haul, by supporting charities, towns, and organizations. This is the standard that allows us to move forward with joy and goodwill.

Who is eligible?

We welcome all participants and use the term ‘woman’ to include cis, trans, non-binary, or any significantly female-identifying person. Any rider who is registered for the Vermont Overland may participate in the weekend for free.
