2022 Women’s Wednesdays with Kim Geist

Inclusivity and Diversity: This program welcomes all women, trans, femme, and other riders.

Part of the Air Products Community Programs, Women's Wednesdays are a key component of our goal of reaching 50/50 in 50. We've set the audacious goal of achieving equal participation by women at the track by our 50th anniversay and this program is just one step in that direction.  Open to women ages 12 and up, this program is lead by an incredible staff of women coaches under the leadership of head coach Kim Geist and designed to be fun, social and inspriational. 

Loaner bikes will be available for those who need them. Helmets are not provided but are required. Please bring your own! 

All VPCC run community programs, training sessions and racing will fully comply with all relevant current state, local and USAC guidelines including mask mandates. Due to the dynamic and ever changing nature COVID and these regulations, specific mandatory protocols for each program/race will be communicated directly to the registered participants per program/event. Compliance with all protocols, signage and staff instructions is mandatory for all participants.

Rain cancels class - we try as best as we can to make sure every class takes place but sometimes the weather has other plans for us. Every effort is made to keep the class on as scheduled - but you will receive a notification as early as possible alerting you to any cancellations. There are no rain dates and no refunds. 

Women’s Wednesdays Basic is for all levels of riders and designed to build confidence among individuals who are new to track cycling or experienced but wanting to work on their skills and develop their knowledge within a welcoming, fun, and social environment.  Participants will learn how to safely operate a track bicycle on the velodrome as well as gain basic skills essential to enjoying track cycling. The program will touch upon basic racing concepts, to serve as a stepping-stone to more advanced skills.

Class will cover all the fundamentals. Topics covered could include:  track bike anatomy & function, velodrome anatomy, paceline riding, warm-up structure, flying & standing starts, proper passing, close proximity riding, riding and racing together as a team, basic races and velodrome etiquette. 

The Women’s Wednesdays Advanced: is open to all levels of riders and takes the skills learned in the Basic Class and applies them to racing scenarios. Focusing on both mass start and time trial style racing – this class will help experienced and new racers alike! Prior track experince is required for this class and participation in the Refresher or Basic class is recommended.
