A sportie is our own term for "recreational sports-related activities", which is a mouthful. So, a sportie is a 5K run, as well as a Gravel Grinder (cycling). It's a Triathlon Sprint, or just a basketball league. They're ALL sporties!

We are working towards bringing a large resource of Youth sporties onto gamefinder, and we're getting our house in order.

Local county ("not country") data is processed by gamefinder, and not by the sending API (which is the originator of the listed sporties). Thus we must rely on the information received. Much of this information is user-generated (on their side), and of course then prone to mistakes. So sometimes we get address field data that cannot generate an accurate county, and that's when a sportie in our database must be listed without a county.

Note: even sporties without a county will be listed in the overall state results, as well as in directed search results. They just won't appear when you click on a specific county within Location filter even though they clearly are there (in good old-fashioned reality).

Yes, sometimes activities slip through our system that aren't sporties at all (e.g., sushi making class, or trip to a pottery maker's shop). We monitor the list of our imported sporties manually after they have been imported, but on occasion you may come across one of these non-sporties before we catch and filter it out. We'll keep improving on this process.
